DAB Digital Radio Slideshow trial

DAB takes a significant step forward this week with the launch of a trial that will showcase the capacity for digital radio to support high quality, colour image slideshows in broadcasts.

London’s multiplex operators, GCap Media, Emap Digital, Switch Digital (UTV) and broadcasters Virgin Radio and Chrysalis Radio, have joined forces to create the two month trial.

The trial has been developed in partnership with iRiver, a leading provider of innovative portable audio and video products. iRiver is set to introduce a DAB-based portable radio with a high-quality screen later this year and beta versions of the groundbreaking product will be distributed to trial participants this week. By tuning in to Capital Radio, Heart, Magic or Virgin Xtreme, iRiver users will be able to enjoy station logos, artist pictures and information and single and album art – as well as advertising from several leading brands.
